This postcard was sent to us from the USA. It was sent by Rosanne, who lives in Newnan, 6501 kilometers away!

Rosanne is a retired teacher who lives near Atlanta, in the state or Georgia (well known, perhaps, from the 'Gone with the Wind' movie and Coke's first factory); nevertheless, she has sent us a postcard with some of the landmarks of the capital city of the States: Washington! She says that she hasn't visited it herself as yet, that her son has been to Spain, and that all of her family are involved in the arts.

Thanks, Rosanne!

Postcrossing Meetup (Received Cards): LAILA from FINLAND

This postcard was sent to us from Finland. It was sent by Laila, who lives in Rauma, 2866 kilometers away!

On the card we can see sthe south harbour of the capital, Helsinki, and some of the ferries that cross the narrow stretch of the Baltic sea between Finland and Estonia. This is a sea that sometimes freezes in the winter, making for a fabulous sight!
In Advanced 2 we talked about the ferry 'Estonia' which covered a similar route (towards Stockholm, I believe) and which suffered an accident some years ago.

On the back, Laila tells us that she is also a teacher, and gives us some information about her small town Rauma (in spite of the card, she doesn't live in Helsinki). Rauma is a UNESCO World Heritage site with wonderful ancient architecture. And on the stamp we can see the famous "Northern Lights"!

Kiitos, Laila!

The card is quite a colourful affair, with flowers, feathers and two roosters in different shades of pinks, reds, greens, yellows, browns, oranges, blues and purples. Perhaps it represents some traditional embroidery or textile pattern, or some cut paper. In any case, it comes with an English sub-title: "Happy Postcrossing from Poland".

On the back, Robert tells us that he has been to Spain last year and that he will be coming back again in April, to Seville.

Dziękuję, Robert!
