Noia-Pozoblanco Postcard Swap - AMADO

Another postcard traveling to Cordoba province! This time it was written by Amado, and it features a very elegant quote by the German writer Goethe!

On the back, Amado tells us how a happy chance led him to choose a card whose message he agrees with, and gives some advice to our Pozoblanco friends: follow the Way of Saint James.

Noia-Pozoblanco Postcard Swap - IRENE

This postcard was written by Irene for our Andalusian friends. It depicts a lateral view of the Renaissance church of Saint Francis, which was built in 1522 and lies next to the modern Town Hall of our town.

On the back, she writes about a bit about herself, the church and the town promenade ('Alameda') which is barely visible on the left of the card.

Noia-Pozoblanco Postcard Swap - SUSANA

Yet another postcard traveling south! In this case it was written by Susana, and features an image that has already been sent in another postcard: the apse of Saint Martin's church.

Susana works in the tourist industry, so she does a very good job in promoting our region, its food and its landmarks to our Andalusian friends.

Noia-Pozoblanco Postcard Swap - LUZ

The last postcard to Pozoblanco has been sent by Luz. In it we can see a quaint little picture with some of the traditional shipping boats at Testal harbour. They are used in the shellfish-gathering industry which is so important for our town and area.

On the back, Luz gives a short but sweet message in which she advertises the marvels of our town. "What else can you ask for" indeed!

Noia-Pozoblanco Postcard Swap - MIRIAM

Another postcard travelling to Pozoblanco! This one is Miriam's, and on it we can see a lateral view of the Santa María a Nova church, along with its cemetery, famed for the medieval guild tombstones that crowd the inside and the outside of the secularized building (and now museum).

On the back, Miriam complains a little on the macabre nature of the card, and appropriately blames me (the teacher) who was the one who gave it to her. Alright, point taken: no more views of cemeteries in the future...

This postcard was sent to us from Russia. It was sent by Nastya, who lives in Voronezh, 3689 kilometers away!

The card was shipped to us around Christmas time, so on its front side we can see a lovely Christmas tree in a forest surrounded by snow, animals and presents.

On her lovely card, we can appreciate a great variety of images and symbols that represent Belarusian culture and customs! Foods, drinks, handicrafts, emblems... We definitely have to try some of them in the future!

Postcrossing Meetup (Received Cards): MARTIN from NORDHORN

This postcard was sent to us from Germany. It was sent by Martin, who lives in Nordhorn, 1600 kilometers away!

The card came inside an envelope! It had some lovely flower stamps and a Nativity scene.

Inside, we had a whole pack of cards! Maybe Martin took the picture and prepared them for us?

In the back of one of them, Martin sends some nice wishes and briefly describes the place where he lives: flat as a pancake, good for cycling, and near the Dutch border.

This postcard was sent to us from the Czech Republic. It was sent by Helena, who lives in Kromeriz, 2140 kilometers away!

On the card we can see different vistas of some marvelous, Renaissance or Baroque gardens, statues and buildings! It appears they belong the local Unesco World Heritage site. You can read more about it here.

Postcrossing Meetup (Received Cards): DIANA from CARBALLO

Many years ago, I was introduced to the world of postcrossing by co-worker and satellite school chief of Ribeira Diana Pastoriza. Among the activities Mariló and I did with her was a postcrossing meetup (the first Galician one!) in Ribeira.

A second and a third have taken place since then. I wasn't able to go to this last one, so Diana has very kindly written a card to us!

This postcard was sent to us from the USA. It was sent by Chris, who lives in Sandy, 8204 kilometers away!

On the card we can see what looks like a volcano erupting! Chris tells us that it is Mount Saint Helen's, near Portland, Oregon (and near her!), which last erupted in 1980.

Besides giving some extra information about the geology of her zone, she also sends us some nice wishes (and posts lots of lovely stamps) in the back.

The postcard was the result of a Postcrossing Meet-up that took place in the city of Vitebsk on the 14th of December, as its cover and seasonal decoration testify.
